Goose Creek

I’ve been told the job was offered to Shaun Wright. He turned it down because it was football only and he would have to teach a full load. Since then, the AD at Goose Creek has be reassigned to one of the middle schools as a teacher (all but 2 ADs in Berkeley County are administrators). They are now working with the district to re-offer the job to Wright, with AD included. Shouldn’t take long because it is in the same district and he is the AD at Cross.

He was an assistant under Coach Art Craig for a while at Timberland before going to Cross and had pretty good success there. If he gets the job I hope that he and his staff will get things back to winning games for the Gators

Lot of talk if SHAW gets the job.... Is not Shaw's (wife)--sister the principal at GC ?
Seems like that is a conflict of interest in the hiring process?

Not sure about a coach from a 1a school. Last time we went that route the Gators were 0-11 the year before Reedy came. Sawyer was supposed to be a decent coach in the 2a ranks..

Has anyone heard who all applied for the job? To me it makes sense to hire a proven winner from another big school. Someone who's used to facing tough competition, especially at the big boy level. If not it's gonna be a Berkeley's region every year

Greg Porter from Hillcrest applied, but did not get an interview. They interviewed Gary Christensen, the DC from South Pointe, Brian Smith (who dropped out), and Kelvin Roller from Dillon. Those are the ones I know of. I'm sure there were more.

Just looking at his resume and the success that South Pointe has had he seems to be a great hire. Hope that he'll have great success at Goose Creek and turn them into champions
