Obviously, winning is not a prerequisite for receiving a nice salary in the coaching profession. smh

6 figures a year for highschool football is ridiculous. That should be cut in half and the rest be distributed to teachers.

I must disagree. Average teachers pay in SC is about 50k per year. All of these coaches are teachers too. Add the time and effort of coaching.......then the efforts of being AD too. To say they deserve average teachers pay is way off. Are current wages a little high.....maybe, but you have to look at what you are comparing it to.

you have no idea how teachers are paid...........if a coach is making 100,000 his coaching stipend and ad stipend is wayyyyyyyyyyyy out of line..........no way around it.........these people also DO NOT have full teaching loads.........1 class......maybe 2.......depending on the size of the school........

I personally think they deserve every dime they get. The amount of time they spend trying to develope these young men into becoming valuable assets to our communities is priceless.

Looks as if you do not have all the facts or " have no idea how teachers are paid". Stipends vary from school to school.......and from job to job

"Most districts specified how their coach or athletics director’s salary was broken up. Football and athletics director stipends range from as low as $4,000 to $47,906 by Woodruff football coach Trey Elder."
