Final.....Dillon 18 vs Wade Hampton 13

1st & foremost....hats off too Wade Hampton for and awesome game they played tonight!! This was by far the best game we've had since losing the Championship game in 2016 to Chapman. We needed that kind of contest to test our teams character, courage, and heart!! They passed with flying colors. The defense brought the wood with them tonight. There were some mental lapses here and there, but otherwise, they played inspired ball following some blinding hits tonight. McCollum, Jeanty, Covington, and the crew were on fire. Our offense seemed stagnate at times, but the passing was unstoppable.....when we passed it!!! The play calling needs some works, unless the agenda was to keep play calling to a minimum......Go Figure!!!! All an all...we finally had an exciting game, where for once, the clock wasn't ran the entire 2nd half. Again....hats off the Wade Hampton....definitely not the same team that we've destroy in the past. I feel a new competitor in the Lower State has now arrived.

I found out that when May River beat them the first time they had 4 starters OUT. Because they were a Better team than May River.First of all PERNELL MAXWELL WAS A BEAST. Kid Is part of the 900 club which means he bench presses over 300 and squats over 900. Their Coach is the LEGENDARY DR. Jerry Brown who is in his 2nd year there. He was the coach for Berkely when they beat us in 1994. He has 5 titles to his credit at MANY different schools. This man is OBVIOUSLY a coaching Genius. He had those boys in position and made several GREAT play calls. They almost came to the white walls and TOOK IT OVER. Great game played by Wade Hampton

Dillon Nation we will be alright. We get our BEST Offensive LInemen in Khalil Bethea back next week. A Game like this builds character!!

Wade Hampton came to play. Best team that we've played all year. #45 was a stud running back. Great job by the Wildcats showing composure after getting behind.

Yep, that #45 Maxwell would be a nice addition to Dillon’s offense. What a beast, is it too late for Jackie to add him to the Shrine Bowl? That was a great game, too bad someone had to lose. Hat’s off to the defense for limiting them to just two scores. Now, let’s go win another State Championship!
Lonnie had everyone laughing when he left the PA system on “We have got to score here, we have got to score.” The very next play, Dillon did just that. Go Cats!

Congrats to both great coaches. It doesn't take Jerry long to turn things around.

Sometimes looking at how the competition fared during the season can be deceiving, case in point Hartsville/Myrtle Beach. Wade Hampton is definitely better than May River, didn’t expect the game to be that close.

Was definitely not an A1 performance for Dillon; but the defense got it done or this game could have been a lot different. Wade Hampton brought the plan, strategy, confidence, & play that made this such a great game. Hats off....their fans, band, cheerleaders traveled all those hours & not just to watch a game, but they really came to win. Dillon always brings a huge crowd, but their fans aren't usually all that raucous until they get in a challenging game or facing a rowdy crowd on the opposite side (maybe like Marlboro or Chapman). Otherwise the fans are usually reserved. Saw the raucous side of Dillon last night but that was precipitated by the fight and energy the Wade Hampton side brought into the white walls. But of course, Dillon proves that they could respond....hands down, this was the best visiting team as well as the best visiting fans to come in the white walls this season.

Congratulations Dillon, and congratulations Wade Hampton. Despite the ups & downs (& injuries) during the season, I would have to put you guys as strong #2 in 3A at the end...... (guess need to see what Chester brings Saturday though).....
