There was a really bad call in the first half of the AAAA Upperstate game. Clearly on the video replay, everyone in BSWA saw it was a clean play.

Once a defender has obtained a legal guarding position, the principle of verticality applies. The defender is entitled to the space within his vertical plane, which includes being permitted to jump vertically. The defender may not "belly up" or use the lower part of the body or the arms to cause illegal contact outside his/her vertical plane. The offensive player whether on the floor or airborne, may not “clear out” or cause contact within the defender’s vertical plane which is a foul. The player with the ball is to be given no more protection or consideration than the defender in judging which player has violated the rules. (Reference: NFHS Rule 4-45)

Even upper state finals officials miss calls just like upper state finals players turn the ball over and upper state finals coaches make stupid substitutions and play calls.

Thanks, that's what I thought, but I only saw one maybe two games this season where it was called as you described from the rule book.

The only reason the State Tournament was held in LR was because the Sun Belt Conference Tournament was held at the Summit in Hot Springs the same week. As long as there is no conflict, it will be in Hot Springs
