Under Coach Bo Pelini, Nebraska does not do a lot of junior college recruiting. Pelini said as much in his press conference today. The facts back that up. Of NU's 21 scholarship players for 2010, just three come from the junior college ranks. Pelini also said they were very selective of the kinds of players, programs and circumstances from which they recruit junior college players. Examining the three in this class illustrates the elements he wants to see.Unlike some programs (cough, KSU, cough) Nebraska's staff knows the rist of building too much of a class around junior college players. When you do that, the window for success is too small and the turnover to quick to have lasting success. Instead, JC players can be used well to address holes or "needs" on the roster. That is exactly what NU did with signing linebacker Lavonte David, offensive lineman Jermarcus "Yoshi" Hardrick and tight end Chase Harper.

First he was part of the Green Wave, then he was a Panther and now he is a Spartan.

Pinewood (Prep) senior Bruce Haynes signed with the University of South Carolina Upstate basketball team May 12.
Haynes is one of the most decorated athletes in the state. He was a member of three state championship teams at two schools. As a sophomore, he helped Summerville earn a South Carolina High School League Class AAAA state title. Then he transferred to Pinewood, where he was on back-to-back SCISA AAA state championship teams.

As a junior, Haynes was named the SCISA 3-A Football Player of the Year and made the SCISA All-state basketball list. As a senior, he was selected as Mr. Basketball by the High School Sports report and made that publication’s football honoree list.

I put a question mark, because I don't know this for a fact. I've heard this from a couple of different sources, but I'm still not sure. Perhaps FCS Sports Fan can confirm this. He is supposedly going to be Red Shirted.

My expressed opinions in no way reflect the official position of Florence Christian School, it's staff, or it's administration.

As he was trying to rebuild his own team after an uncharacteristic sub-.500 season, veteran Roanoke College (NCAA D-III) men's basketball coach Page Moir also had an interest in the women's soccer program this spring.

Moir said he and his staff "busted their tails" in recruiting this year, but not because they had been sitting during previous recruiting campaigns.

"We felt really bad [in 2009] because we came in second on so many kids," said Moir, whose team finished 6-20 this season. "We needed to have a big class this year. We needed the competition and we also needed the numbers."

Roanoke's tallest recruit is 6-7 Chris Ferraro from Hilton Head (S.C.) Christian.

Didn't I read somewhere early last year where this kid had quit playing football to concentrate on Basketball?
