Friday 4-16

Softball

Newberry Academy - 3
Jefferson Davis Academy - 2

Tough game at the end of a tough week. Nice win.

Baseball

Newberry Academy - 1
Laurens Academy - 11

Sixth Inning mercy rule. Newberry had a disastrous 1st inning ... dug a big hole that they would in no way be able to climb out of .... defense played pretty well the rest of the way against a superior team. Congrats to Laurens.

Baseball

TSA - 5
CPA - 2

A pretty good game throughout. Matt Brown, who threw the complete game in Monday's win against Holly Hill, went 6 innings in his final home game to get the win. Fellow Senior Cam Martin came in and got the save. He retired the first two easily, struck out Ryan Howard but the ball got away and Howard made it first. They ended up having runners on 2nd and 3rd, but Martin got a pop-up to first to end the game.

It is my understanding (from a parent) that with a win on Monday at St. John's, TSA will clinch 3rd and a playoff spot.

To edit my previous post, TSA actually clinched a playoff berth with the win, even though they could still finish 4th in the region. After Holly Hill's 12-5 loss that clinched the region for Dorchester, TSA, who would clinch 3rd with a win against St. John's, could actually finish second if DA beat Holly Hill. TSA could also finish 4th if they lose to St. John's and Calhoun wins their final region game.

I know going into this week we were tied with Calhoun for 3rd but had already clinched a playoff spot. I would assume Calhoun would also have to be in because we could have still finished 4th and Calhoun 3rd. Unless there was some situation where Colleton Prep could tie Calhoun and win the tiebreaker, I'm thinking Calhoun is in.
