Any word on how Charleston Collegiate will be this year? There new coach, Mike Mears brings with him a stud, his on Jamey. He is two years removed from Heathwood, where he was standout Linebacker. He is bona fide small college material. He is better than Keenans Phil George who ended up going to Coastal Carolina.

I haven't heard anything about the rest of the squad. If anyone out there has seen them play post a report.

"Whoa Is Me! Whoa Is Me!

Heathwood hosted Richard Winn this evening for a scrimmage, but before the first play could be called the "Football Gods" spoke. Heathwood has lost two two-way starters for the season. Sophomore Shelton Blue, a 6'0", 210 lb Linebacker/Fullback is lost to a torn ACL sustained during a previous scrimmage. Senior Davis Verbrick, a 6'4", 240 OL/DL is no longer a student at Heathwood Hall. AND THEN THE RAINS CAME.

After just a few plays by both teams the scrimmage was called due to inclement weather. I believe that Richard Winn has a new coach. In the few plays that RW had the ball they seemed to have a difficult time holding on to it. They lost 3 fumbles in their own End Zone. Heathwood's Offense did not play enough to yield any comments.

Both teams will be in action on Friday at Heathwood in this area's Jamboree

Hard work beats out Talent .........When talent doesn't work hard :|

That has kind of hurt LMA the past few years. It really slows practices down when you have 60 kids and only 13 of them know the difference between Over and Under on defense. I think most of the football players don't care about the comradeship through the good and bad times or winning. They just want their letterman jacket and to wear a football jersey to school on Friday. :?

Highlander, I hate to hear about the injury. Here's hoping for a speedy and successful recovery for that young man. Serious injuries are part of the game, and always will be, but it still makes you almost sick to your stomach to hear about something like that happening after the kids have worked so hard to get to this point.

What happened to Verbick? I have seen HHES play several times over the past couple of seasons, and he always seemed like one of the best linemen on the team.

Verbrick's size and speed made him one of the most feared OL/DL in SCISA. Several colleges had expressed interest including a pretty big school in the top half of the state, but he needed to do somethings academically over the summer and he just didn't get it done. What he was asked to do was not unreasonable, nor was it extremely difficult, but it did require time, attention and commitment to education.

Hopefully, he will get it together.

Once again we are reminded that we attend school to get a good education, not to be a high school athlete.

We have all known the young man most of his life. He has been at Heathwood since he was four years old and up until this year his father was a very popular elementary teacher, so he will be missed and everyone wishes him well.

Highlander i am extremely sorry to hear of these injuries...as tb pointed out they are a fact but i like him am sick to hear of this. Tell young Mr. Blue that with modern medical techniques and advanced sports medicine therapy he can come back stronger than ever. Our excellent QB/WR from a couple of years ago William (The Conqueror) Banks got injured at GSU in the spring. (same injury) He is working hard and is ahead of schedule on rehab. Our prayers are with him to keep his spirits up and for an extra speedy recovery.
