With less than a month away till some Jamborees kicking off, how's everyone looking out there: 1A, 2A or 3A?

3A Top Ten

1 Hammond - To be the best you got to beat the best
2 Augusta Christian- Ready to climb back to the top of the Pack
3. Wilson Hall - talley keeps them a contender
4. Porter Gaud - This years Sleeper
5. Heathwood - Loss of Whalens hurt but still good enough for top 5 showing
6. Ben Lippen - Always talented - always underachieve
7. Laurence Manning - Once consistant contender - now lacks confidence to be contender.
8. Pinewood - Couldn't win with talent. Less talent new coach keeps them near bottom
9 Orangeburg. Have never rebounded from loss of Shelley. They need to try and get him back before they become contenders
10. Cardinal Newman - Just can't seem to put it all together in football. Biggest high School - poor participation. Needs changes at the top to become serious

These are just opinions formed from my years watching SCISA football. Not meant to disrespect anyone

2A Top 10 Predictions

1.Hilton Head Prep - Return most starters. What didn't return they got from Hilton Head HS.
2. Hilton Head Christian - Defending Champs - but lost too many key players to be considered better than Prep
3.Thomas Sumter- Return good nucleus - Probably SCISA most over looked coach.
4.Pee Dee - Good core coming back, reguardless of which Spivey is head coach they will always pe well prepared
5. Thomas Heyward - Toughness counts and these guys are all that. Couple breaks and they could end up 2nd in region
6. Northwoods - Life without Uraih will be tough. numbers puts them higher up list.
7. Robert E Lee - New coach will energize a program that was stuck in a state of old school football
8. Calhoun - Once top program has been hit by a period of lack of athletes. Coach makes them better than they are.
9. Williamsburg - Makes the move from 1A to 2A with good group of boys but not enough to break top 5
10 St Andrews - Wild card - could move up charts with some luck but look for them to contend for the 4th playoff spot

1A top 5 Only because after the top 5 the level of play drops considerably

1. Palmetto Christian - Even with the departure of several key athletes the cupboards are not bare and have been restocked
2. Dorchester Academy - Best coach, great skill players coming back, Head hunter LB. Three keyss to win state.
3. Colleton Prep - Best talent of anyone coming back. Loaded everywhere. Would be #1 without change of coaches
4.Bible Baptist - Best player perhaps in all SCISA, experienced playoff team, very very fast
5. Dillon CHristian - Could go as high as ! or as low as 10. Depends on who shows up by the start of school

Old & Gray, interesting predictions you got there for 2A. Only thing I disagree with is that fact that Florence Christian is nowhere to be found. I'm not saying they need to be in a 1 or 2 slot, but I think they are better than the 7, 9 and 10 teams you have listed. FC has a lot of talent this year, only thing is they will be young and are going to make some "rookie" mistakes but will be a contender by the time the season is over. (If everyone stays healthy that is.) I haven't spoken with anyone lately so I don't know if we've had any transfers come in or not, if so, that will only make them a little bit stronger. Their offense should be good, defense will be fine and as far as the special teams goes we will need to find a replacement for our kicker which is not easy to do in SCISA.

Two notes on 1A.

1. FC has tried to schedule numerous of 7 on 7's with Dillon Christian this summer and most if not all have fallen through due to DC not having numbers so apparently know one is showing up for DC this summer.

2. You are right on with Bible Baptist in having the fastest player in SCISA with Jerel Richards.

First time posting on this board, so hello everyone. I don't know a lot about some of the players and coaches but I will take a shot at the top tens.

AAA

1-Hammond- Seems like in a down year they find a way to win. This program is as solid as any in the state.
2-Wilson Hall- Coach Talley automatically gets you a few more wins whether on the gridiron or hardwood. They will challenge for the top spot.
3- Ben Lippen- I would say that they have to break out and challenge Hammond sometime soon. Have a lot of athletes to choose from.
4-Porter Gaud- New coach, new system last year...better players this year. Could be dangerous.
5- Augusta Christian- Glory Days coming back?
6- Laurence Manning- Very well coached, but lack size and athletes to every be a real threat. Hope they can keep Ken Kellehan.
7- Heathwood Hall- No Whalens=No Way
8- Orangeburg Prep- The spread has to have athletes and good decision makers. Are they bred that way in Orangeburg. Don Shelley would have this team near the top with smash mouth football.
9- Pinewood Prep- New coach, but same Pinewood. This is a basketball school right? Seems like they win in everything but football.
10- Cardinal Newman- No clue

AA

1 HHP- Good QB returning with some skill players. They would contend with or without transfer help.
2 Northwoods- Been really good the last few years. Program is very solid. Would not suprise me if they win it all.
3 HHCA- The spread is a live in well on the island. Does prep or christian run it better?
4 Thomas Sumter- Fitzgerald is a very athletic/physical back who can be a game changer. They will be very good.
5 Calhoun- QB and RB return along with some solid people up front. Jarecki can coach and he has to be itching for a return to the top.
6 Pee Dee- Coach Spivey has a good group coming back, they are undersized but always deceptive in the wing T
7 St. Andrews- Where Brock Miller is lurking there is trouble. He is as good a football coach as you will see at this level. Can he get it done at a school full of expectations.
8 Thomas Heyward- Will play hard and be competitive. Lack the talent to really compete at this level or even A.
9 Williamsburg- Will struggle with the increased competition, but Coach Rankin will have them playing hard. Solid group of 10th graders will be very good in 2 years.
10 Robert E. Lee- Coach Brian Scott will breath life into this program. Look for them to get out of the bone and into something exciting. Spread may be stretching it.

A

1- Colleton Prep- Not a lot of numbers, but very physical up front. Losing Headley will hurt them but dropping down to A will certainly help. Neil Minton will be solid on the sidelines. They will be good if they stay healthy.

2- Palmetto Christian- A lot of athletes make them dangerous anytime they have the ball. They struggle to stop people last year, but can outscore any team in A. Have to wait and see what kind of talent they have brought in.

3- Dillon Christian- Program was very strong until the departure of Kelly Williamson. Can they keep the momentum going. A is much tougher with the addition of Dorchester and Colleton.

4- Bible Baptist- Has Jerel Richards graduated yet? He is good, but is his team?

5- Dorchester- Not as physical up front but explosive at the skill positions. The Mcilhaney brothers are very good.

6- Holly Hill- Coach Shelley did not lose a whole lot from last years team. Is this the year they turn the corner in 11 man football?

7- Byrnes- Explosive offense, need to be better on d to really compete. Must replace QB to be successful and top reciever to be successful.

8- Charleston Coll.- Word is they have some talent influxing in. That is no suprise, but can they keep a coach? That would be a suprise.

9- Richard WInn- Don't know anything about them.

10- St. John's- Well coached, but lost Downey.

Yes, I did overlook FC but I mande my predictions more on history of the programs so and from what I've read from past posts. FC didn't really come to mind. I also left out Holly Hill. They will be right in the 1A mix. The could find themselves playing late into november. One prediction I can guarentee... There will be plenty of mistakes with these predictions but it was fun to take a stab before everything gets started.
