The 1998 29-28 game still sticks in my craw. Abbeville was destined for the AA title that year, fell behing 21-0 right off the bat, came back to lead 28-21 late, Central hit a long pass, made the 2 pt conversion and won. That 2 pt attempt took some guts, that's for sure. Still can't believe you guys lost to Emerald the next week. I always suspected Central just came out flat that next week. The Central team we saw would have whipped Emerald. We had just beat Emerald 38-10 a few weeks before, and, we called the dogs off early in that one.

That's why I never judge a team by the margin of victory another team beat them by. A lot people feel like because we beat team A and team A beat team B, We should beat team B as well. It is all about match-ups. Central probably thought that Emerald was just gonna come out and give them the game. During the playoffs, you can't afford any mental let downs or it will be basketball season.
I agree with that statement, comparing scores can be a losing proposition. It's a new game every week, and, teams don't play the same every week. That 1998 season was very strange, B-L and Emerald played for state title, we had killed both of them during regular season. I don't know how they made it, neither was a top team that year, anybody who says different is kidding themselves, must have been something in the stars.

There is no doubt the 1998 Panthers were the best team in the state. Central elininated us and kept us from running easily to the title. We had beaten Emerald 38-10 and BL 42-0 that year and those two teams met for the title. That one still hurts in Abbeville.

I would agree with the 1994 game. I almost put that one in there. I can tell you why we lost to Emerald and I'm not being funny. We were beat all to pieces from the Abbeville Game. I talked to one of the parents afterwards and he said his son was beat up as well as about half of the team from that game. We still had the chance to win the game at the end. We were on about the 20 yard line with around two and a half minutes to go. Our QB went back to pass and had a wide open receiver in the endzone. The QB threw the ball and drilled the ref dead in the chest with the receiver standing right behind him. That is still one of the toughest losses I have ever had to deal with.

Im pretty sure that if you look up central, it means "situated at, in or near the center", just to let you kno, might wanna check over that 3rd grade notebook.
Thanks for clearing that up. Since we are giving english lesson's, the word is spelled KNOW, not KNO. Pretty sure you can find that in a 1st grade spelling book.

Please stop bringing up 1998 season its making me sick all over again. I had trouble sleeping for a while after that heartbreaker. Central's coach has a big set on him I will give him that.

going for 2 was the only thing to do, we didn't want to go to overtime with yall, and i want to make a statement about abbeville, there is no team in the state of south carolina that central has more respect for than the abbeville panthers, your players, coaches and fans are all first class, and as for the 1998 game, abbeville was the best team in state, after our game we had nothing left for emerald, we were beat up beyond repair

beaudiddley - That is probably the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Any team that gets used to losing will always lose. I can promise you Abbeville is far from being used to losing. I just hope that this is the year that the stars line up in our favor.
gameeagle - We appreciate that, Abbeville doesn't get the repect it should from most people, so thank you. Abbeville has alot of respect for Central as well.

If you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten.
