That means if you have 10 minorities, it is safe to assume 6 will receive some form of financial aid. Just the same is true for any random selection of 10 white kids.

Second, there is NO difference between someone to contribute to a financial aid fund and what you suggest. The reason being is that it is absolutely illegal for any booster to pay for any individual that is not his child's tuition. ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY that is donated by a booster has to go into the schools financial aid fund. ALL FINANCIAL AID in SCISA is need based. No schools give out athletic scholarships.

1. 60% of all SCISA students receive financial aid? Help me out by posting where that is stated on the SCISA web site, because I can't find that particular item.

2. Only a parent can pay the tuition for a student? So a grandparent, uncle or anyone else can't pay tuition? Please show me where that is posted on the SCISA web page.

Now you're discussing facts Wesley!!
Please don't confuse him with those.
Being one of those public school guys myself, I have never heard LA accused of paying kids to come there from our school.
Maybe that is why we don't lose more than we do because financial aid for athletes isn't an issue there.
DANG a christian school being ran for the right reasons.

GO CRUSADERS!!!

.

Failing a reply from KSU I'll have to put this up with his famous" Bishop England multiplier rule", which he stated was a part of the SCHSL rules.
Every year we gain a few students from 55/56 and lose some to these same public schools. I look at it as finding the best fit for your child, and don't fault the families in either instance.
I wish we did have the financial aid resources that a Hilton Head school has, we could increase our enrollment signifigently. But, anyone that thinks we give out money to come to our school to play sports is mistaken.

60% is the number used when financial aid is being discussed between the member institutions. Financial aid can be anything from PE uniforms and books to full tuition assistance. If you don't believe me, go ask your admissions director.

Of course a parent is not the only person that can pay tuition for a student. Other family members pay all the time. We were discussing boosters paying for athletes to come from other schools to play a sport. Not talking about Grandma Jane paying for little Susie.

So, when another SCISA school gains a few students from another local school, their boosters are paying for athletes, but when your school does it, it is parents looking for the best fit for their child?

It's funny, that is the exact same quote that every fan uses about their school. "anyone that thinks we give out money.... to come play sports is mistaken." I am sure Dillon Christian fans say the exact same thing in response to your saying that they pay for their players.

Funny. A fan saying, "I have never heard of that at our school" Do you think ppl at any of the Columbia based SCISA schools say the same thing?

Plesent Grove was on the verge of closing down and they made the move while there were openings for them. ( PG closed the next year 2 weeks before school started, leaving some students no option but public school.)

thornwell closed and we gained some students, some of who played sports. This year some of the Thornwell students who went to public school have returned to private school at Laurens. Some of them will play sports.
Completely on the up and up.

Go back and reread the post. 75CHS is a Clinton High fan and he is talking about students from his school. this year 2 of our students, including our best running back, transfered to Clinton. 1 of their football players has transfered to Laurens.
He said nobody around here is accusing Laurens of offering money to attend, but then you don't want to hear the truth do you?
Because if you did you wouldn't have misqouted him would you?

So because someone told you 60% that makes it true across all SCISA? And what you stated as a fact is in fact an opinion?
and there is no rule about paying tuition in spite of the fact you said it was illegal?

Maybe you might want to confine yourself to the island and HHP & HHC where you may actually know something?

I asked our admissions director about the 60% you claimed and she Laughed out loud, woundered what you had been smoking!
She did say that our figure was more in the 5-8% for financial aid so i guess your Hilton head schools must be giving out 100% + tuition grants to make it balence out at 60%?

I doubt that Wardlaw or Laurens has enough money to pass out free rides in football softball or volleyball. Now english, physics, and math that's another story! Smiler
