I think SCA will still be the upper state #1 (I don't see the region IV's champ getting the upper #1 over them), so I doubt that they would open with any of these teams. But another region champ (out of region IV or region II) could be a 2 or 3 seed and face one of 'em in the first round if they are a 6 or 7 seed. In this case they would be the strongest AA 6 or 7 in a while. I also agree that 3 of these teams will probably make the final four - and will be very familiar with each other by then.

SCA's schedule will tell on them early - it should reveal just how competitive they will be. I am not sure if anybody has a 1-2 punch as good as Collegiate's (maybe a good topic to start sometime).

If I were making an preseason all-star team from AA (just based on last year - not trying to predict this year's outcome), I would take those two, Crow (SCA) Ernestine (Beaufort), and the sophomore from Bible Baptist (this could also be a good topic to start sometime).

I think that St. Andrew's is in for a long season in both boys and girls. The boys are in a very tough region and the girls are going to have a hard time adjusting to life without any of the Wilkowski sisters.

I think that Bible Baptist are legitimate State Championship contenders in both boys and girls. Jerrell Richards and Tevin Thomas are both legitimate scorers that can combine for between 40 and 50 points on any given night. If they can get solid rebounding and any kind of defense, they can win the whole thing. For the girls, Ariel Martinez and Erika Sharp were both all-region players as 9th and 8th graders last year in a VERY tough region. They have added the girl that was the star at Jenkins Highschool last year, but I can't seem to find her name anywhere. Do you have any idea what her name is? I understand she averaged 18 ppg for Jenkins last year.

I just don't know yet. It is too early to tell. Any of those other teams could have had a ringer move up or in that would make them instantly a contender. You just never know.

This is all strictly preseason hype.

It seems that all of the good teams have two very good players and alot will depend on how the complimentary players step up around them.

Bible Baptist is Jerrel Richards and Tevin Thomas. Thomas is an ultra quick pointguard that can score, Richards is a slasher that is a pure scorer and a pretty good rebounder.

Beaufort Academy has Chris Ernestine and Chris Canavan. Ernestine is a 6'3" forward that might average close to 25 and 15 this year. He can also step outside and shoot the three if needed. He was the region Player of the Year in region 4 last year that had Hilton Head Prep, Hilton Head Christian, Thomas Heyward, Bible Baptist and Beaufort Academy. Canavan is a guard that can score enough to keep teams somewhat honest.

Charleston Collegiate has Stephen Brown and Ryan Goer. I believe those are the two that are returning and Hardy graduated. Both of those guys are great compliments to each other with Brown being able to get to the rim at will and Goer being a very good shooter.

Nobody really knows what is going on at First Baptist, but they made it to the semifinals in AAA last year and have a ton of kids back. I know they lost their two best kids for various reasons, but they will be talented enough to be a force to be reckoned with.

The region really depends on how the complimentary players to all of these great players step up.

i dont know much about basketball(i just go 2 the game with my wig on and piss off the away fans)but the st, andrews JV team won the end of the season tournament last year, not sure if that is really a factor or not. Bible Baptist is def. the front runner in my book

First Baptist retruns the 2 twins who are good, their big guy, and most of their role players. They played alot of games last year without the 2 star players who left, so they should be fine.

Thanks. That is very important. Hardy would have been a much bigger loss than Goer in my opinion. Hardy gives them that ultra athletic point guard that can single handedly win games.

What this tells me is that while the other three teams have 2 stars and will need plenty of compliments to step up, First Baptist has a pretty good team, but needs someone to step up and be the star.

Adds a pretty interesting dimension to the region.

Gore is now at First Baptist!
He may be the most overhyped kid in the history of baskteball and IMO CCS is better off without his distratctions. He left as a soph to sit on the bench @ porter gaud came back with a poor attitude and leaves again as a senior. If I am a CCS fan I say thank goodness!

KSU, first of all I agree with your assesment of AA this year. Usually you are dead on it.
I live in the Pee Dee area and by all accounts our region here wont produce State Champions. I do think the region will be competitive withen itself.
Rumor has it Byrnes has signed some new players , one of which is the better of the 2 big guys from Trinity.PLus they may have some other additions. D Christian seems to have re bulked up with athletes so they are likely to be good as well.By all accounts Carolina will be down considerably. Pee Dee and Marlboro should have solid teams in the league as well.Kings lost there go to guy but they can make noise as well.
Who knows, maybe by the end of the season, one of these taems will improve and will kick up some dust in the playoffs.

Maybe they should be called preferred transfers.
