This may be the best team SCA has ever had. They start the season beating one of the best 3A schools in the state and then turn around and beat a quality 4A team that will probably make the playoffs.

They may not be 10-12 deep this year, but everyone can score, and when you combine that with the hustle and energy that Coach Padgett and Coach Pangel always get on the defensive side then this team could be scary good. There was a post that said that First Baptist had 10 players that could start for any other team...uh that's a negative. I don't think Pinewood has 10 players that could start for SCA.

well at least we know between St. Johns and Spartanaburg Christian we can always expect to hear about how great they are. I guess I'm old school and remember the days when you let people do the talking for you and say thank you. For some reason, it seems teams and individuals have to build themselves up these days and proclaim how good they are to everyone.

you're right.......you are old. That's the purpose of this board is to talk SCISA sports and SCA just picked up two HUGE victories for SCISA over two well thought of public schools.

Maybe everyone should call ESPN and tell them we're tired of hearing about Texas, USC, and Oklahoma. How come they never talk about UTEP or Norfolk St. I wanna hear about teams that aren't any good. Stop with the Lebron James and Dwayne Wade CRAP!!!! Give me Etan Thomas and Joel Przybilla interviews. So what Thomas hasn't been relevant since Syracuse I want to know how he's feeling about his wildly disappointing career.

Give it a rest and get off your high horse if I like SCA then guess what I'm probably going to talk about SCA especially if they are doing well. If you disagree with something then reply and we can argue about it... that's what these boards are for. But don't sit there and tell me not to brag.

fan - I see a discernable difference between the two folks/institutions you have compared here...

Many at SCA take pride in representing SCISA, especially in the upstate - a place where our league is not well known. And I hope that all of SCISA takes some pride in a little AA school knocking off the 9th ranked AAA SCHSL team and a AAAA school that made the upper-state championship last year.

I believe these accomplishments are truly noteworthy - and if a fan of the program wants to talk about them, well, that's not that out of the ordinary. You said it yourself - let others do the talking. Well, that's what bigtarv is doing, right?

Yep, I believe old Tarv is coach Padgett's brother in law. So if you can't brag about family who can you?
Coach P could probably get a job at any number of 4A-3A public schools, But I believe he feels that SCA is part of his Christian witness.
I've watched them since they started their sports programs. They are a class act.

Big Tarv,

How bout those Warriors! In regard to their success, I think that you are forgetting about one major factor---the young assistant Jason Robinson. The hiring of this kid may be the smartest move that Coach P ever made!

Hey, I've got to agree with that, coach P is more than a coach to these kids he's like a mentor to them. My kid came from a public school and has had the opportunity to win two state championship rings and a chance to win another one this year. I've seen how coaches in the public school arena act and talk to their players. I pay my money gladley to have a positve encouraging atmosphere for my kid to play in, and being respected for your accomplishments on the floor are just icing on the cake. GO WARRIORS

haha Touche...let us not forget the bridge that Jason provides over the generation gap. When you get as old as Coach Padgett and Coach Pangel its tough to reach the younger kids. Not to mention they needed someone that could pull off the sweater vest look.

not convinced it's the best SCA team so far. Last year's team was pretty sick. That said, I only got to see them play an Irmo team that was not bad at all, and SCA obviously had very tired legs. So I guess it is a little unfair for me to judge just yet...we will see though! Go Warriors. 4peat!!

Congratulations to SCA!! This is good news for all of us SCISA fans! A rising tide carry's all boats usually in this area...Hopefully other schools will follow suit and find men like these 2 coaches (if they don't already have them) I for one am looking forward to a great basketball season.
