I was not surprised at a tight game v. Fort Mill, but a loss against the Fort?

What has been the early season scouting report and reasons for the early season struggles for Pinewood?

I've heard lots of egos and attitude.

I saw Milton only had 8 pts. vs. Fort. Regardless of the reason, that simply is not enough production from your marquee player.

News Flash: Fort D is AAAA SCHSL. I guess they have a good team with 2000+ kids to draw from. Probably pretty big, enough to give Milt some trouble, especially early in the season. Anybody can have an off night. Does anybody here want to bet against them being one of the teams to beat in Sumter?

Fort Dorchester is much more athletic than Fort Mill. They are taller, faster, and jump higher.
But, Fort D has ALWAYS had athletes - they just haven't EVER had ANY teamwork or discipline (just like their football program). But, now it appears that Fort D's new coach is the real deal and that may well pay off for the Patriots.

As for Pinewood, I am confident that with Steed in the lineup they would have beaten Ft. Mill (just as they did last year). Fort D was a game that went down to the wire (just like last year). Last year, the Panthers got the breaks at the end. This year, the Patriots got them.

Dwightshrute is entitled to his opinion, but I think that Pinewood's next three games (Bishop England twice and Hammond) will tell whether there's anything to support that opinion.

Also in the Pinewood/Fort D game...Milton got in foul trouble and was out most of the 2nd half.

Old School,
I saw pinewood and I think they are really good but PW beat Fortmill last year without Chalmers (their 6'8") kid who was out with a broken hand. I think they were better last year and you won and you were better this year and they won but ultimately it doest make a differnece you have to play with who you have at the time.

having said that, I am not taking anything away from pinewood and I think they are the truth I just wanted to point that out about last year with fort mill. I think when pinewood is all together for more than a week they are the best team in the state period!

News Flash: PW has 4 players who are D1 prospects and would start for any 4A school. Plus SCISA has a big early season advantage because they are allowed to do more in the offseason. For example, you can open the gym for pic-up ball as long as there is no coaching, whereas public schools do not have that luxury

For the record, I think PW is a great team and am not one of the peopel who cry about recruiting. I just think they have not reached their potential yet and will be even better as the year goes on.
