OldSchool, thanks for putting this out there each week.

I can't help but believe that the difference between good AAA teams and top AA teams this year will be put on display tomorrow night. Look for OP to roll by at least 3 TDs against Calhoun and for WH to pop TSA by 20+. Even though these are great rivalry games, don't look for them to be close this year.

Saw where the HHP coach had commented after their loss to Ben Lippen earlier this year that BL was the best SCISA team he had seen ever. He didn't even play a team from the top 1/2 of the Columbia AAA region - while BL is greatly improved, they already have 2 region losses with a 3rd very likely tomorrow against the Skyhawks.

The coach didn't say it was the best SCISA team he had ever seen, he said it was the best team tehy would see this year. That included Augusta Christian. I know Ben Lippen lost in OT to Augusta Christian, but those that saw both games still think that BL is the most talented team of the two.

I disagree, Augusta Christian should have put BL away. ACS was the better team. That being said BL should have won the game in the third overtime. They should have set up the field goal in the middle of the field instead of passing the ball on third down. BL has always had some good atheletes but I think ACS is easily the better team of the two.

The 4 overtime game between BL and ACS was exciting and proved for all to see that BL is a very very good team. Those young men fought back from being down by 3 scores to force the overtime. Once again the difference was one William Banks (#11) for ACS. I believe this is the most balance we have had in AAA SCISA football in many years. The best team is clearly Hammond. But there is not a dimes worth of difference in the 4 (or 5) other AAA teams I have seen play/practice this year. Injuries and execution will determine who goes to the playoffs as it nearly always does. However this year there are 5 teams that on any given night could win the state even though Hammond is clearly a cut above the rest...

KSU - I was wrong - Here is the actual quote from Coach Peduzzi to the Beaufort Gazzette after their game against BL.

Ben Lippen 54, Hilton Head Prep 16

Pick any facet of Friday's game, and it played some role in the most lopsided defeat Hilton Head Preparatory School has suffered in years.

The offense? It mustered just 35 first-half yards.

The defense? It allowed 254 before halftime.

"We didn't play very well, but make no mistake: That was the best football team we've played since I've been here, and that includes scrimmages," said Ron Peduzzi, who is in his eighth year at Prep's helm.

His statement doesn't leave any room for interpretation. He actually said that was the best football team his HHP guys had played in 8 years - games and scrimmages included. He didn't restrict it to just SCISA schools.

As for the statement that it was the most lopsided loss they have suffered in years - wrong again. They gave up 42 first half points last year to Heathwood in losing 56-18. That was with a shrine bowl QB running their offense.

Good luck to all tomorrow night.

As for parity in AAA, I couldn't agree more. Wilson Hall, AC, LMA, Heathwood, Pinewood, BL and OP all seem to be extremely close with PG a player or 2 short. Hammond is 1 or 2 injuries away from coming back to this group but they seem to be getting their groove on. There is some very good football being played by all of these schools week in and week out with only 1 or 2 plays a game determining the winners. BL will be very tough come playoff time. I still look for Pinewood to get their new personnel figured out by the end of the regular season.

Should be some great games tomorrow night.
