SJ Coaching Assignment:
Study defensive schemes. Learn them. Teach them
to players. Practice them.

Alternative:
Lacing up the sneakers and beginning basketball practice...because, lights out/party is over if the players are not taught effective defense this week.

Prediction:
Without an effective defensive plan Richard Winn will run over St. John's to the extent
Bible Baptist and St. Andrew's both did.

Homework Assignment:
Leave the board chat to the oldtimers and Coach
Football.

St. Andrew's 42,
St. John's 0

So, might need to update the offense in addition to learning about and teaching defense this week.

I'll take superior athleticism in greater numbers over superior coaching every day. The best coaches without the athletes don't usually beat average coaches who have the athletes.

You can't coach speed. You can't coach size. If it was all about heart-- well-- the service academies have good coaches and a ton of heart. Why aren't they competing for national titles every year? They don't get the top athletes.

Is it at all possible the other teams had superior athletes in greater numbers the past 2 games? I know BB had them and it sure sounds like SAS did also.

Wow, you guys turned on the coaches fast. I'm sure they have been doing the same things all year but get dfferent results vs good A teams and a AA team rather than playing teams fresh out of 8man(or still in 8man).

RWA plays old fashioned smash mouth football. They come at you, and come at you, and keep comming at you til they break you or you break them. they hit as hard as anyone SJCA has seen this year.
Having seen my Crusaders play both teams I'll tell the folks at SJCA to buckle their helments on tight, this will be a test of wills cause the eagles will come to Monkes Corner ready to play.
Best of luck to both teams.

You know how it is sometimes. At some schools parents are a little bitter when their child isnt the best on the field. So they do what most parents do this day in age. They blame the coach. What a world we live in today.

Here we go with what should be done. With SJCA winning only 7 games so far in their first year of 11 man football, I believe someone should start a poll about whether their coaching staff should be fired. Come on SJ Dad you have all the answers so step up and let the team know who you are. SJCA sounds like they have a great Drama department at their school.

OK, so Coach McCall and his staff have taken a team that won 2 or 3 games last year in eight man and elevated that to a 7-4 record with a play-off berth. Now someone thinks it's time for a change?

Here's my idea - let the guys who have been directing this program thru the voluntary workouts that began last June coach the team and the rest of us can sit on the sidelines and cheer for the players.

Even if SJCA had a fundamental problem with defense, making any last minute changes is not going to help anything.

Support the teams (incl. the coaches, players, and schools) and let them do their jobs.

If anyone can do it any better, feel free to submit your application for next year.

Good luck to SJCA and all the teams in the play-offs.

I agree wholeheartedly with Yellodraggin. I feel certain SJCA will accept any applications from all those All Star Coaches out there.

It is obvious that coaching is made up of preparation, hard work and a lot of trial and error. Winning programs don't just happen overnight. In fact, long term effects take YEARS of work from coaches, schools and players. Sure, SJCA could benefit from weight and endurance training, camps and fundamentals but those things take YEARS to see the full results.
I have nothing but respect for Coach McCall and his staff. I feel his improvements statistically of the program should tell some of you that he is on the right track.

But regardless-- Keep it off the message board. Invite others to a private conversation or talk to the coaches directly. It looks bad for the school and I would remind you that many team players read these boards...

What is it that you base this score on? 34 points on a team that has only give that number up once this year to Northwood Acd. (one of the top AA schools) and the only team to hold Dillion Christians to their lowest point total for the year is pretty extreme.

SJCA may win the game by 6, but it will not be 34. I have not seen SJCA play, but based on how they handled Williamsburg, it does not look good for the home team, unless something has changed or RWA has a bad night.

One thing is for sure, those who do not like contact, would be better off watching this game from the sidelines or on the fence.

I look for this to be a great game and Lord willing I will be there to watch it first hand.

May the best man win.

I guess I should have made a pradiction, since I questioned another.

RWA 24
SJCA 7

No disrespect, just the way I see it on limited knowledge of SJCA; based on their game with WA. I think RWA's D would be strong and their ability to move the ball on ground or air will be the difference and they enjoy playing in the rain (looks like there may be some Friday).

I agree wholeheartedly, SJ Caballaro. Let me restate that there is no problem between our supporters on the fence and any of our coaches. Stop trying to create one when none exists.

Please let our coaches coach, our players play, and our fans cheer. Yes, the critism of my position (before you guys throw it back at me)yes, the coach is my family. I am extremely proud of him. So go ahead, call me biased.
I am also very pleased with all of our coaching staff -- as if anyone cares my opinion.

Let's "Go Cavs", listen to your coaches and lets
win Friday !!

I base this on;

1) I like SJCA's offense - they do have a quick strike capability, that's where the 34 came from;

2) My limited knowledge of RWA, they sound like a bruising team, should be able to score 4 TD's vs. SJCA (or anyone else for that matter);

and

3) My unbridled optomism.

I may be wrong again, but it is only a prediction.

Good luck to both teams.
