School spirit is definitely important in many ways. It inspires and motivates athletes, gets other students and faculty involved in athletics, and its also a definition of school pride. In saying that, I think its important to state that some schools take this to the extremes. I think this opinion is commonly shared amongst several users. In particular on this message board, there are principals, board members, coaches, and players "trash talking" and overwhelming other topics. Not only do we have to deal with that, but also the fact that every other topic is about a particular school. As higher ups within a school (coaches, teachers, board members, principals) it is important not to identify yourselves as you have. Unfortunately, we all know without it ever being directly stated who you are. This makes a mockery of the athletic department/school. Most coaches wouldn't want their supporters acting in this manner, nor would they want their athletes to act in this manner. Hopefully, the schoolS that this applies to will take this message to heart and give us all a little break. As professionals, our team spirit and involvement on this board should also be professional.
