Final:

Laurens Academy 22, St. John's 13

First Quarter: St. John's 7, Laurens 6
Second Quarter: Laurens 14, St. John's 13
Third Quarter: Laurens 14, St. John's 13
Fourth Quarter: Laurens 22, St. John's 13

St. John's drove to the Laurens 6 yard line (trailing 14-13) but could not score with 6 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Laurens then took over and scored on a late TD to make the final Laurens 22, St. John's 13.

I commend my "Cavaliers" on a well-fought game.
We really beat ourselves out of this one.

Next: Cathedral at St. John's

Let's "GO CAVS !!"

St Johns played a great game. As a Laurens fan I would have to say that it came down to who was deeper. Both teams battled cramps late in the game, but Laurens was able to bring in fresh legs, and St. Johns was not.

On a personal note. Somehow Laurens forgot to bring their water bottles, so in an excellent display of sportsmanship the St. Johns players shared with our boys during timeouts. I don't know of many places where you would see that!
Thats why I love being associated with private Christian school education!

Kudos to the Cavaliers! Smiler

How much of this do you think is due to players not being able to practice like they should and get in shape? Or is it just the players? We had a huge thing at Williamsburg when I was a sophomore where the Seniors always got cramps, but when we played last year, I don't remember one single player getting one. Sometimes it's just the player not practicing like he should and sometimes it's because SCISA won't let you practice but once a day.

Anyways, sounds like a good game, keep it up everyone in A, looks to be a pretty open field. And kudos to SJCA, I to don't know how many schools would've done that.

While the scaled back pre season might have been a factor, I think it was mostly due to the muggy high humidity and the very physical nature of the game. Both teams were really hitting. Last year LA's middle linebacker was nicknamed " Truck" so our boys call a big hit "Getting Trucked"! alot of people, both sides, " got trucked."

No Truck graduated and is now a knob at the Citadel. Our middle linebacker is a converted tackle, ajunior, who we expect to carry on the "Getting Trucked" tradition.

.
Cramps had nothign to do with the amount of practice.
The heat and hunidity caused those problems along with the stress of the kids giving it 100% on every play because they realize one play might determine the game.
The best players from both sides were the ones getting the cramps as they were giving it their all.
Cramps come from improper hydration that starts at least two days before gameday. Waiting to the day of the game does little to stop dehydration and increases cramps.

Great game!!
It was a joy to watch.
From all ole pro.
