Ok fine. If that's what you REALLY want (although I know it's not), I'll give you the FACTS.
ACS football history 1998 - 11-3 Won Region 4-AAA GISA AAA Runner-up 1999 - 5-6 2000 - 9-3 Beat #1 team in AAA that year 2001 - 6-6 2002 - 9-3 Won Region 1-AAA 2003 - 8-3 2004 - 6-5 First year in SCISA 2005 - 12-1 SCISA AAA Champs 2006 - 10-3 SCISA AAA Runner-up Of course I don't know the full record, but since '98 we were 48-24 in GA. Would you say that is bad? Would you say we weren't successful then? Would've won the GISA championship had our QB not torn his ACL. First year in SCISA it was tough. Everyone was exceptional with a 19 senior Orangeburg team, Heathwood Hall, Collenton Prep who was on a winning streak dating back 2 years ago, and of course teams like Hammond, Porter-Guad (who I think already beat a public school that year). Didn't think SCISA was weak that year. Now local teams that we would traditionally play in GA (Briarwood, Brentwood, Edmund Burke) would refuse to play us after our last year. The reason being is because we were killing them. We beat Briarwood 48-0 and Brentwood 55-7. We even played Memorial Day School in Savannah and beat them by 30-40 every year. Quit playing them because of TRAVEL. We figured it was pointless to play them anyways. Doesn't sound like ducking from competition to me...sounds like we needed a NEW CHALLENGE! Of course GISA wanted us to play every Macon school and AAA power in the league. Fine. There's only one problem, they are 2 1/2 hours away. Let's not forget George Walton (2 hrs.), Riverside Military (4 hrs.) and the occasional Southland (4 hrs.) and Deerfield-Windsor (5 hrs.) The only team from the GISA that we never beat was Tattnall Square with our past three meetings being very close (27-16, 23-21, 28-20). Since this is REALLY ABOUT ALL SPORTS let's consider basketball and baseball. Already won a few titles in both...so why leave? Well, for one thing we constantly had to travel to Macon again, several times on Tuesday nights, for games and playoffs. Every year the playoffs took place in Macon...usually being on school nights. Ever since we joined SCISA, our basketball has done worse. Last year in GISA was 17-8. Now we can barely get a winning record. Pinewood Prep back in 1999 beat the esteemed and bowed-down-to 1999 ACS basketball team (with Joey Issac, James Seegars, Andrew Duke...that crew) by 20 points. Baseball could've won in GISA both teams. Unfortunately we were uninvited to the Tattnall tourney so we'll never know for absolute certain. Still our baseball team continues to do just as well in the summer leagues and split with North Augusta and 10 run ruled Strom Thurmond twice I'll even throw in track and field. Every meet was in Macon on a Wednesday night. Brentwood and John Milledge's tracks couldn't run meets anymore. Fortunately Augusta Prep had a track, but they couldn't hold meets there for a time because of construction and none of the Macon schools wanted to come down to Augusta for a meet (I wonder why...maybe for...TRAVEL!). State meet? Was held in beautiful Albany, GA a whooping 5+ hrs. away. Our boys track team was 3rd two years in a row before leaving GISA and continues to finish 3rd in SCISA. Girls already won the GISA title in their last year and won one in SCISA last season. Now that we have joined the SCISA, our rivalies are much better because we play closer schools our size. Games with teams such as Heathwood Hall and Hammond are much more exciting because they are competitive and more fans come due to TRAVEL. ACS has NEVER had a more pumped up atmosphere than the one at Heathwood Hall. We lost that game, but it was one to remember. Strebel of course last year's team would've made a run at the state title in GA. Now, the seniors from years past don't want to hear this, but the teams from these past years PLAY BETTER TOGETHER AND WORK BETTER TOGETHER. Why? because those players were very talented...but they (not all) were about themselves. These players have bought into the team philosphy. Those players didn't. I know the popular belief is that talent wins outright, but the 2003 team proved that theory wrong. We lost to a Deerfield-Windsor team in 2003 that I know couldn't beat Heathwood! Would this year's team compete for a title in GISA? I don't know. I'm stil shocked they competed for a SCISA one! They are overachievers in my book. I don't see Tyler Bourdo calling his own plays! I don't see Kyle Meeks tallying his rushing yards! This is all I have for you right now. If I still can't convince you, then I guess we'll have to leave it be. |

The 2005 ACS team would have beat the 2003 team because they were a TEAM. I was involved with both groups and the 2005 team had LEADERSHIP which the 2003 team lacked. Unless you were somehow involved with both groups I don't see how you can be an expert on the matter. As far as the number of players in college, the 2005 team had several players who could have played beyond high school but choose not to. You sound more like a member of the 2003 team than a S.T. Rebel.

Oddly enough I wanted to say the same thing. I almost wonder if it really is indeed a disgruntled ACS alumni!
