Maybe we should look at this from a football standpoint. Which of the private school champions could have competed with any of the public school? Let me answer, absolutely none. Don't give me any of that business about black and white!!

Maybe some of the private school should step and schedule more public schools, like Bishop England.

The elitist blue-blood private school philosophy puts more emphasis on country club sports anyway.

My opinion is better than yours….because its MY opinion!

Mr I if you don't know anything about private schools why comment. Most of them are not even private they are just independent. Most of them are also miidle class folks who don't feel comfortable with the bigger environment of a large public school. I'm guessing youare an upstate guy that has no idea about independent schools anyhow. Go to Orangeburg or Estill or John's Island and you will see why there are much more independent schools in the lower state. It simply is not an environment that is conducive to good learning and that is backed up by documented and tested fact. Most independent schoolers also do not think they are better than a public school. In fact i think most of them look up to the great athletes such as Korn and Mounce. Take a look around at next year's championship games and if you'll open your eyes you'll probably see a lot of SCISA guys. We all live in S.C., and by national standards all of our education is substandard. If a man wants to send his kids to where he thinks they will have the best opportunity to succeed then who cares what school it is lets all hope they get a good college education and stay in S.C. to make our state better. Im sure there are some schools that are elitist to some form or another but i'm also sure that there are some same type of people at Irmo or Blythewood or Lexington. Why is it there is always some person who gets on here and has to bring up why SCISA is so substandard in every measure than the state. And scisa folk are just as guilty with their test scores. Why can't we all respect each other for just playing the game. And if one wants to come watch the other play ball then so be it. Welcome how can we make your stay more enjoyable? Ifor one go to both games and i thoroughly enjoy them both for the competition within themselves. Try to look at the game from a sportsman's perspective and less from the competitors standpoint. I don't think SCISA wants to be the high school league and vice versa. It's still ball and people like to watch it and play it.

OK Butcher. Point taken. I have lived in multiple areas of S.C. (upstate, midlands, peedee)....quite frankly, in every area, the public schools have had better teachers, better facilities, & better opportunities than the private schools in the same areas. The only reasons I can think of for a person to want to send his/her children to the private schools I've seen is b/c they're either racist or elitist! Oh yeah....public school football is WAY better too!!!!

Those areas i could see why that would be. The facilities would almost certainly better because they are mostly tax paid while in SCISA the schools fund them alone. Although some independent schools have fine facilities but are paid for with high tuitions. As far as teachers go, i think they are closer than you think. At the bigger schools almost all are mastered or higher. Don't judge all of them by the areas that ypu have been. These are some fine people that just make a decision for what they think is better for there kids. I would guess elitism and racism are there but not nearly the way you think. Probably no worse than some of the wealthy state schools. As far as the competition level of football, the high school league has many more players which is naturally going to lead to more depthful talent. Scisa occasionally comes around with a special player such as Mughelli or Adams or Gado but generally once these guys get donw with high school they are off to college to start their lives. Don't judge these folks until you've walked in their shoes. I'VE been in both leagues and they are more similar than you know. I also know that most SCISA people hold the high school league in very high regard. Maybe the respect should be returned a bit.

What would you have them do to earn your respect? And if they can't, should they fold up their league because you don't approve. If you asked them they would probably say they enjoy games as much as anyone. Should West Point discontinue football because they can't play with Miami? What about the Tarheels they weren't competitive this year and are probably 3 years away so should they just quit. Everyone cannot play at the highest levels which i'm sure you are aware. Should all the non-Gaffneys quit because they are not up to beating the Indians? Or should everyone just go watch them play because everyone else is not worthy of respect.
