Has anyone's opinion changed on 1A teams since the spring? It will be interesting to see how the 8-man teams react to 11-man football.
Who are the teams or players to watch this year? I hear that the Qb from Laurens is good and a LB from Clarendon Hall that is suppose to be good.

I don't think any 8 team will have a winning record with the exception of Laurens & Holly Hill. Clarendon Hall & SJCA are trash. Nobody is going to run away with this at all this year. I would've said Byrnes, but they lost halfback Zeb Freeman because the coach was padding Schurlknight's stats making him look better than he was. Dillon Christian was average last year and should one of the better teams. I haven't heard anything about CCS, but I know they lost a ton. Williamsburg will be down, lost 12 seniors, at least 9 starters on both sides. If Laurens can play defense and establish a concrete running game, because I know they can pass. They might be the team to beat. I just think of a team that can defensively stop anybody series in and out like Williamsburg, Colleton Prep, and CCS could last year.

Does anyone know if any 1A teams have been in any 7 on 7 games? I know you can't really judge a team based on these passing games but you can get a feeling for the type of atheletes that they have and the number of players that they will dress out.

Yes, I was aware that Zeb Freeman is now at Florence Christian, I don't know what that has to do with my post though...just mildly confused.

The HSSR has released it's preseason rankings in 1A .

1. Laurens Academy
2. Claredon Hall
3. W.W. King
4. Charleston Collegiate
5. Holly Hill
6. Byrnes School

With 3 of the 6 being former 8-man teams, I'm not sure what to think of this. As a Laurens supporter I know what we have returning and what holes we have to fill, and what adjustments we must make to be competative in 11 man. I just can't believe anyone would see the crusaders at number 1.
anyone have any thoughts on this?

I can guarantee Clarendon Hall won't be anywhere near number 2 by season's end.

Byrnes
Dillon Christian
Williamsburg
W.W. King
Laurens would probably be my top 5, no particular order, more of a coin flip.

I think that Clarndon Hall will play Dillon Christian on August 21. That will be an indication if they are #2 or not. Anyone scrimmaging the first Tuesday? I heard that Florence Christian is having one that Tuesday. Anyone know who is going to be there and what time? These scrimmages are usually pretty good because everyone is fighting for positions and the coaches are out in the middle of the action screaming and yelling. If there are going to be some decent teams there I may try to go.

There was a lot of talk about the rise of PCA this year. If all the running back transfer etc. is true, shouldn't they at least be in the top 6?
And how are you dismissing CCS? The one "tranfer" that we've read about in these boards is supposed to be a 6'4" QB stud! And they came off a state title. Any thoughts?

I would have to say 1A lost alot this year. Williamsburg and CCS lost everyone that could hurt you. Colleton and a terrible Dorchester moved back to AA. Bible Baptist is moving down to 1A. They have been taking a beating in AA but have young talent. Paired with a new coach from HHCA, they could be a playoff team in 1A.

terrible Dorchester? They ere mostly freshman and sophmores. We'll see how terrible they are in 2 years. Any school in SCISA would terrible playing with 9th and 10th graders. Forget SCISA, everywhere.

That has not stopped anyone from saying St. Andrew's was awful. I saw no one saying wait until those kids are 12th graders. Well this season they will be 12th graders.

So with a seasoned and experienced team, what do you see as St Andrews chances this year? I believe they are in the weaker of the two regions; where do you see them finishing?
